“The essence of independence is to be able to do something for one’s self.” ~~Maria Montessori
More than 40 years ago,
Suzuki realized the implications of the fact that children the world over learn to speak their native language with ease. He began to apply the basic principles of language acquisition to the learning of music, and called his method the mother-tongue approach. The ideas of parent responsibility, loving encouragement, constant repetition, etc., are some of the special features of the Suzuki method.
Private lessons or small group lessons are available twice a week. Teacher has performed with Suzuki group in Sweden as well as with the Kansas City Civic Symphony.
Approximate costs: 15-30 minutes: $5. Lessons will be an individual class and then once a month a group class instead of the individual lesson with an annual recital. Parents need to be at the lessons for optimal learning.
Montessori Academy is now offering private lessons in piano and voice with new staff member Zandra Willoughby.
